A Veteran's Day Tribute To My Grandfather

I would like to honor my grandfather Robert P. Burkey on Veteran’s Day. My grandpa joined the army on November of 1968. He served in the Vietnam and the Persian Gulf War called the Desert Storm. At times, he would jump from airplanes and helicopters. He liked leading and working with soldiers.

My grandfather earned 25 medals and 1 badge. Two of his biggest medals are 4 Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart. The Bronze Star was for heroic actions in combat. The Purple Heart is given to those wounded in combat. I am thankful for my grandfather and others like him who helped give us freedom we have in this country.
